The M.E.T. program team works to support students’ academic and professional achievement. Our team bridges the resources offered by Berkeley-Haas and the College of Engineering to provide a seamless undergraduate experience for M.E.T. students. We are here to assist students as they navigate through a uniquely challenging workload by offering personalized support, dedicated recruiting opportunities, and by empowering students to make informed career-based decisions.
Saikat Chaudhuri is the inaugural Faculty Director of the Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology (M.E.T.) Program, a flagship dual-degree program in engineering and business at the University of California at Berkeley. He holds the Grimes M.E.T. Chancellor’s Chair at the university, with a joint faculty appointment in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation as well as Management of Organizations groups at the Haas School of Business, along with the department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering.
Prof. Chaudhuri’s research specializes in corporate growth and innovation strategies, particularly high-tech mergers and acquisitions, high-value outsourcing and partnerships, and technological innovation in dynamic environments. His publications span both scholarly and managerial outlets, and his work has been recognized from the field’s leading professional associations including the Academy of Management and Strategic Management Society.
An award-winning educator, Prof. Chaudhuri has taught and led undergraduate, MBA, and executive education courses on corporate strategy, management of technology, and innovation, all while advising leading global corporations and governments worldwide.
Prof. Chaudhuri came to Berkeley in 2021 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he served on the faculty of The Wharton School for over 16 years, holding leadership positions including Executive Director of the Mack Institute for Innovation Management, and Interim Director of the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology. His prior professional experience includes corporate development at Mannesmann AG, in addition to stints with Citibank, McKinsey and Company, and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
Prof. Chaudhuri earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Multinational Management from the University of Pennsylvania, Master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University, and Doctoral degree in Technology and Operations Management from Harvard University.
Chris Dito is an expert career development strategist with decades of leadership, innovation, recruitment, employer relations/outreach and candidate development experience. She thrives working with all student populations – undergraduates, graduate students and alumni. She focuses on developing the potential of each student professionally, academically and personally. She is currently involved with the following organizations – National Association of Colleges and Employers, Future Talent Council, Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers. Formerly involved with MBACSEA, Reaching Out MBA, National Black MBA and Prospanica.
Prior to coming to UC Berkeley in May of 2018 Chris spent 20 years at UC Davis in the following roles – Senior Director of Career Development for the Graduate School of Management (placing MBA, Master in Accountancy and Master in Business Analytics students into meaningful careers), the Associate Director of the Internship and Career Center (focusing on all recruiting and employer partnerships and co-teaching a quarter long Career Development course) and the Workability IV Specialist for the Career Center (helping students with severe disabilities find employment).
Chris has taught career courses at local community colleges and consulted with career centers on optimizing career center efficiencies and engagement.
Dawn led the launch team for the M.E.T. program back in 2016 and as a result has developed strong relationships in the College of Engineering and Haas. She is the go-to for all academic related inquiries for the program including advising, degree planning and progress checks, study abroad, department policies, and more. She helps facilitate connections for academic and wellness support and demystifies the complexity of navigating 2 degrees from 2 different colleges and 6 different engineering majors. Dawn helps our students stay informed about what they need to do to graduate on time while having an enriching academic experience.
Althea handles all marketing, communications, and data analytics for the program. She joined the team in 2017 and led the design of M.E.T.’s brand collateral. Althea launched M.E.T. ‘s social media presence and works closely with M.E.T. student leaders to create engaging content across all platforms. Althea is the go to for all things M.E.T. data. She uses it to plan and improve program initiatives related to: outreach, admissions, and yield.
