The Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology (M.E.T.) program seeks inquisitive, self-motivated students with a passion for finding and solving big problems. Admission to the M.E.T. Program requires the submission of a written essay and a video essay by the deadline.
Important: If you do not submit both parts of your supplemental application, you will not be considered for admission to the M.E.T. Program. However, your application will still be fully considered by the College of Engineering.
Supplemental Application Process & Deadlines
After submitting your UC application, check your email for a message with your supplemental prompts and instructions for accessing the MAP@berkeley portal.
Due to the high volume of applications, this email may take a little time to arrive, but rest assured you will receive all the necessary information well before the deadline.
All supplemental materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PT on December 14, 2025.
Written Essay: (350 words maximum)
The following essay questions are designed to provoke honest, thoughtful responses to help us get to know you. It gives you the opportunity to provide unique information about yourself and why this program is the right fit for you.
In addition to content, written essays are evaluated for writing and critical thinking ability, skill in organizing and presenting thoughts, and the relevance of your answer to the question posed. Your response is limited to 350 words.
Please choose to respond to either Prompt A or Prompt B. The Admissions Committee does not have a preference for either question A or B. They’re given equal weight in the review process.
A. Share with us the world you come from (for example, your family, school, community, city, or town). What unique experiences from your world motivated you to apply to this business and engineering dual degree program?
B. Describe an experience that required you to combine an engineering mindset with a business perspective. How did adapting to setbacks in this experience shape your leadership and resilience?
Video Essay
Video essays are evaluated for your genuine perspective and unscripted communication style. Think of it as a brief interview where we hope to see your best self, and we welcome responses that are authentic and spontaneous over those that are perfectly polished.
After you submit your UC application, the specific video questions will be shared with you by email. These questions are designed to learn more about your perspective, problem-solving skills, and resilience.
