Events help M.E.T. students with their personal and professional development, providing them opportunities for community engagement, network building, career development, employer engagement, and faculty integration.

M.E.T. hosts a wide array of events throughout the year. With the help of M.E.T. student leaders, we invite campus partners, companies, and CEOs to meet with our students. In addition, current students get the chance to mingle with industry leaders and alumni across different sectors and learn about some of the exciting positions available to them.

The program strives to bring relevant events to our students. Our events are great opportunities to learn, discover, and develop new skills. As the program grows, we’re constantly iterating and taking feedback from our student community about special events and the topics they’d like covered.

Below is a snapshot of some of our events.

Fireside Chats are a perfect opportunity for students to learn from industry leaders about the program’s keystone fields of management, entrepreneurship, and technology. Past Fireside Chats have featured:

  • Rob Mee, CEO of Pivotal
  • Joshua Reeves, CEO of Gusto

Coffee Chats are available for students who want one-on-one engagement with employers to learn more about specific industries and roles while building their network. In addition, attending a Coffee Chat is an excellent way for students to develop their networking skills and engage with possible future employers.

Company Treks are immersive company visits. Students visit a company headquarters and tour the building, hearing from industry experts shaping the field. Previous company treks include visits to Facebook HQ and Bloom Energy.

Employer Meet & Greets are mini-career fairs for students to mingle with potential employers from various industries and sectors.

Lunch With a Professor are events to help bring together faculty and M.E.T. students for informal conversations to foster learning, inspiration and wonder, and to open the door for communication between faculty and students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to meet. A maximum of 10 lunches per semester will take place during the academic year.

Office Hours are weekly events for M.E.T. students with campus partners, industry experts, Board members, alumni, and current students. In addition, Office Hours allow students to foster mentorship relationships with the greater M.E.T. community.

Industry Deep Dive Info Sessions are another opportunity for students to explore various industries’ latest news, advances, and trends. Previous sessions include deep dives in AI/ML and quant trading.
